multi-cultural education

From kindergarten: Bi-lingualism and multi-cultural diversity

The school welcomes as many French-speaking as non-French-speaking children.
During the first kindergarten period, the teaching is done mostly in Spanish, and then French is introduced progressively.
Each teacher speaks his own language. The French teachers are the referents of the French language. For the sake of success in learning French, they speak to the children in French only, except in the event of a problem.

The Peruvian and French cultures will be predominantly taught but we are lucky enough to have children whose parents come from the four corners of the world and share their culture with us.

The goal is that, from the youngest age, the child is familiar with the French language in order to be able to follow the school programme in French. Learning is through fun and teaching activities.

From Primary: Multi-lingualism

From primary school, English will be taught as a second modern language. Over the school years, the time devoted to learning this language will increase a little more at each school level.

What is the advantage of this?
"The great advantage linked to bi-lingual education is the fact, finely analysed by C. Hagège (1996), that the young child is able to hear and identically reproduce the sounds of other languages unknown to his native language of which he will no longer be capable at the age of ten years." ... "Many studies have suggested the existence of an intellectual advantage linked with the development of bi-lingualism." ...
"For a young brain, the acquisition of two or three languages is no more difficult than just one." ... "By discovering very early another language and culture, the child will acquire intellectual openness and will have better opportunities to understand other people."

"I would therefore like to express the desire for bi-lingual education from kindergarten, … .and even, from primary school, tri-lingual education."

Active Pedagogy

Greater number of teachers:
Comfort that allows personalized and differentiated teaching.

Free clothing:
There is no compulsory uniform. We only ask the children to come with comfortable clothing. A school sport uniform is for sale for families who would like one.

Montessori area:
The children will have an area specially designed for autonomous learning. In a quiet atmosphere, shelves within their reach, they will be able to choose the activities for their development freely.
The materials are presented beforehand by the teacher so that the child can use them in the right way.

That is why, in parallel with directed activities, we set up times reserved for workshops where the child himself decides to register.

Within their class, the pupils of different ages are grouped together in the various workshops to enable them to learn from each other and, where the biggest spontaneously share their knowledge, which also promotes the development of their personality.

The advantage of this way of working also makes it possible to use the many talents of the child and respect his pace, style and his learning process.

environmental education

The objective is to raise awareness among children in the world in which they grow up.
Around daily learning, we have implemented an environmental programme so that the children can live with nature and respect it, and also realize the effects of their actions and their daily habits on the ecosystem.

Living with Nature:
Chickens, ducks and rabbits accompany our children in their learning. We also have a vegetable garden to experience plant growing. Earth, nature, waste, human nuisance, resources, energies, etc. will be part of the topics studied.

Healthy Eating
We will discuss the theme of food and health to arouse food awareness of children and educate them in taste and a balanced diet.
In consistency with this spirit of work, we ask families to provide a balanced snack, as natural as possible. Obviously, soda, sweets and crisps are banished from the school.

As much as possible, we will invite outside people or arrange ecological theme outings.

surFing studies

The Trampoline School is the first Surf Studies in Peru.
Managed by a team of professionals, the "Surfing Studies" section allows the children to receive appropriate sports training from the age of 7 years and accompany those who have aptitudes for a professional career.

Surfing is not only a physical activity but also a philosophy of life practised in a natural environment and which generates a great sensation of freedom and union with nature.

From a teaching point of view, it is also a fun activity which helps each of us to exceed our limits, thus reinforcing the self-esteem and confidence. Surfing is completely a part of our educational project since it is an excellent discipline transmitting sound educational values like brotherhood, perseverance, respect for and protection of the environment.

Objective: Opening of the Sport Studies in March 2016
